Tropical Storm Isaac

Every year from late July to early November the Caribbean turns into a very active storms field with tropical systems coming out of the west coast of Africa pretty much every day, this situation happens every year and somehow residents around here just learn to live with it, when I said “learn to live “I mean, everybody just wait until the last minute even to get candles. Every storm is different , but somehow this one the people act like they want it to happened, not like they want anything bad or wrong but people need something different to worry about and come together as human beings  and been in the same page without politics or economy issues. This same principles move surfers from around the globe even when they are not even around the affected area by the storm, we all dream about that perfect wave that can occur during a storm when the right elements collide.  This is a very personal and unique part in the life of every surfer and all kinds of waves come to life in our dreams when a storm is coming. In this case we have to say that Isaac filled the dreams of  a very important part of the surfing community , Grooms and Beginners, with waves around two foot every day and sunny mornings, it was the perfect way to begin a surf season, lots of families have the chance to enjoy fun waves and feel the storm chase side of surfing in a very safe environment . On the other hand for the core side of the sport it was a heartbreaker storm, but we been there , tomorrow is another day and we are more than happy that the storm also break the heart of all the Meteorologist around the globe and nothing happened other than rain.

New Surboards

New Surfboards on the way. Next week we are getting some new Dick Brewer's Performance Thruster Surfboards and another shipment of Bush Man's, they would be available on-line. Keep visiting.

Also a our surf rental quiver is getting bigger and better, we are working on a new program for this season for all those good surfer looking for a good surfboard to rent.

Finally, Tomorrow

After weeks of hard work we finished our first half of our online store, it was supposed to be upload to our server last Tuesday and we try but we have some technical issues with the server at the last minute, so for the last two days we been setting and coding and finally we can start working on the server. The first part of the store would be all the hardgoods ( surfboards, skateboards,skimboards etc. ) the second part would be our CLOSEOUT Shop with the best deals and big savings, this one is almost done and would be ready by the 4th of July and the third and final part is our clothing, for July 15.

Tres Palmas, Small Swells

Tres Palmas is well known around the big wave surf community for his power and perfection during big long period swells, there's no record of a swell closing out the whole beach, so it makes sense that when you think or talk about Tres Palmas is all about the BIG Surf and all the scary moment that comes with it, if you stop by Tres and the waves don't look big is not worth it because is not THE WAVE. Well for the last few years surfers has been experimenting at Tres with smaller swells and different swell / winds directions with great results and really good surf sessions, is just a very different wave compare to when is big also surfing Tres this size it doesn't gets you ready for the real deal, so keep that in perspective. So next time you stop by Maria's and there's two hundred people fighting for a wave remember that small Tres is a good option for a more relax fun surf with just a few people out.

Another Season Goes....

Every year surfers in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean experience the same sad feeling known as "The end of another Season " a very well known effect around the world and the surf community with in the different surf areas,this effect is associated with lack of surf, very bad wind conditions and changes in swell directions, switching from north storms and swells to south ones, this process is part of the eastern season and the weather changes the planet experience.

Eastern Season effects are different according to areas and in Puerto Rico the month of May works as a trigger to welcome this specific time of the year. This month better known as " The Rain Month " rains pretty much everyday, usually, mornings on the east side of the island and the west side get his share in the afternoon. What is important of this time of the year when all surfers start looking south for swells, is the kind of swell, while the Pacific most of the time enjoy good south storms that generates world class surf on the south side of places like Hawaii, California and Mexico to turn them into heavy waves machines calling surfers from all over the world to enjoy a piece of summer surf and cold cocktails ,we get a more complicated situation on the Atlantic Ocean (Caribbean), first, we have to surf crappie waves for about two months, then the local government put together their emergency plan and team together, a very unique list of names is shown to the country, at this point is all set, just a matter of time before is in the news, " First Hurricane of the Season ". Ok, here we go ! first thing first, the list with the names, all set, now we know his name , then the cloud of mix-fillings usually overpower by fear take over the society and then HOPE FOR THE BEST.

Even when the waves are the best we seen all year with perfect offshore winds and high period numbers the simple detail of what generate that surf is enough to forget about it and wait until next season.
