Domes Beach and the Nuclear Plant
Construction for the facility began in 1960 and the first nuclear chain reaction was achieved on April 13th 1964. After being thoroughly tested it was brought up to full power in September of 1965. The reactor ran successfully until June of 1968 when its operation was terminated due to technical difficulties and high-cost modifications needed to run the plant safely and effectively. It was fully decommissioned in late 1969 early 1970. Rumors of a Nuclear Museum has been running around town for a few years now and more cleaning at the plant has been seen lately.In the surf community Domes is one of the most recognize surf spots in the northwest coast of Puerto Rico, this is because when the surf is small, just a handful of spots in Puerto Rico still showing some waves, in the northwest coast Domes and Jobos are the most known, chances are that pretty much every surfer in the west coast of Puerto Rico at their beginner stage or their first surfing experience was at one of this spots.

San Valentine's Swell
For the last two weeks Rincon is been getting good surf, this is the product of back to back northwest swells ( NW ) coming from the east coast of the states. Today we wake to find clean good 8 to 10 ft. surf all around Rincon, spots like Dogman's, Maria's and Tres Palmas with the best surf.

Finally, Back to Back NW Swells !
About time, finally the Atlantic Ocean wakes up and start throwing some north-west swells to the Caribbean Islands, especially Puerto Rico. Last week we have a really good one and looks like another one is coming for next week, this one expected to start filling Tuesday, is pretty solid with swells around 10 ft., with this size and west direction, expect some mean surf at Dogman's and Maria's.All this pictures are from last week north-west swell, a very fun one !

No Waves at all
The first month of 2012 has been one of the worst months ever for surf in Puerto Rico. A combination of trade winds and lack of swells has turn our coast into a kite-boarding paradise, everybody is blaming " LA NINA " and is true, but our season is just getting started and usually the most perfect, cleaner swells happens from now on, so let's cross our fingers and hope for the best, a perfect copy of last year medium swells.
